The Future of Shopping with Mobile QR Code Walls
Sears and Kmart are making an impressive move by introducing mobile shopping walls in high-traffic public areas. “With the hectic holiday season, we know how important it is to make shopping as convenient as possible, which is why we are bringing the Sears and Kmart shopping experience to places that correspond with our customers’ everyday routines,” said Hugo Malan, Senior Vice President and president fitness, sporting goods and toys. “As more shoppers head online to do their holiday shopping, consumers are now able to be more productive during their wait time. For example, customers can literally do all their holiday toy shopping while they wait for the bus or a delayed flight home.”
These mobile shopping walls will feature toys that customers can purchase with their smartphones by simply scanning a QR Code on the product image. These mobile shopping walls will be appearing in select malls throughout the US. Kmart also plans on opening QR Code walls in select movie theater lobbies.
Shoppers can also try out the Sears & Kmart mobile walls in bus stations across the US and throughout airports in Chicago, Dallas, Denver and Puerto Rico.
This may be new to the US; however, this style of virtual shopping is being enjoyed across certain Asian markets. Tesco, a major retailer in Korea has found success utilizing Virtual subway shopping targeted towards time-starved Korean commuters.
Imagine the possibilties!
